Our Favorite Things (to decorate with)
We decided we wanted to create a fun little round up of some of our favorite things to decorate our homes and clients home with. Some things are on our wish list to put in our own homes, some things we use time and and time again in photoshoots, and some are our go-to’s for putting the final styling touches in a client’s home. If you’re in a rut with what to add to your coffee table or empty wall in the hallway, hopefully some of our faves will give you some inspiration!
Candles from Anthropologie - or rather anything from Anthropologies for that matter. LOVE love love this store. All of their inventory is intentionally curated with unique finds that you won’t see anywhere else. Which is why it is so fun to shop home decor there! All of their candles smell delicious and are also aesthetically pleasing - it’s a win win!
Minted prints: If you haven’t heard of Minted you definitely need to check them out! They source art from independent artists around the world and provide an easy to use platform for purchasing. No matter your budget or style you’ll be able to find something for your home. Oh and did I mention they provide framing options too? Taking the headache out of everything when it comes to wall art! Here are a few of our faves:
Coffee table books: Books are a perfect addition to any flat surface whether its your bookshelves or entry console table. By stacking them they provide height and a great layered look ( a how to style your shelving blog post will be coming later!). Here are some of our favorites:
Glassybabys: Who doesn’t love glassybaby? They are timeless, simple, and beautiful. Each and every one is hand blown AND raises money for a good cause - what could be better? Coming in every color imaginable, adding one or 50 glassybabys in your home is always a good thing. Putting one on top of your coffee table books or put 3 in a row to create an ombre effect along your fireplace mantle. They are always a good go to when styling!
Decorative objects create interest and add character to your space. Whether it’s pieces passed down from family, garage sale finds, or something you picked up from a shop you love - It’s fun to mix and match. A couple fave finds:
Vintage runner: add to your kitchen, hallway, entry, or wherever to create more warmth and texture! A couple of runners we are drooling over right now are:
Trinkets at antique marts and consignment shops: I don’t have any links to share for this fave but that’s because anything you find at an antique mart or consignment shop is unique! Which is why it’s one of our faves.
Whisker Row wall hangings: looking for a unique way to decorate your walls? These dip dyed fiber art hangings are amazing! We’ve added one to a client’s home and one to the airbnb unit Kim designed so far - and I’m considering getting one for my own home.
Throw pillows: you can never go wrong with pillows! They are an easy way to bring color and pattern into a space. They are the final touches for a living room, master bedroom, breakfast nook, and the list goes on. One of my favorites right now that I’ve been eyeing for my living room is the Navy spotted pillow by Caitlin Wilson. You should check out Caitlin Wilson’s other pillow designs as they are all so dreamy. We’ve also had good luck with throw pillows from Etsy. Here are some of our faves:
