Project Showcase: Master Suite Edition

When our client first started to think about updating her 1942 home her main concern was making sure the master suite edition would flow well with the classic traditional feel of the house. She wanted to modernize her home without completely erasing the original style that reflected the home’s Seattle history. We worked with our partner RW Anderson Homes to ensure the delivery of our client’s wishes. The entire project consisted of replacing hardwood floors throughout, remodeling the kitchen, replacing millwork, painting the exterior, replacing doors and lighting, painting throughout, transforming part of the basement into an additional dwelling unit, and adding a second story consisting of the master suite. For now, we’ll dive deeper into the breakdown of the master bathroom.

Being on the second story atop Seattle’s View Ridge neighborhood, the master suite boasts expansive views of Lake Washington. The large picture windows bring in a lot of natural light creating warmth even on the gloomiest of days. Our goal for our client was to create a luxurious bathroom retreat with some feminine touches. In order to achieve this, we selected MSI carrara marble for the floors and a black and marble basket weave mosaic tile for a tile rug in the middle of the bathroom. This basket weave mosaic tile was also carried over onto the shower floor and accompanied with a sweet white beveled subway tile for the shower walls detailing a thoughtful, delicate touch. The countertops are a cashmere carrara polished quartz from MSI and the shaker style custom cabinets are from Huntwoodin their eggshell finish. The faucets are from the Newport Brass Fairfield collection and give a traditional nod. The rest of the plumbing fixtures are from Kohler, paired with the heavenly slipper tub from Signature Hardware.

Wainscoting and traditional millwork details help tie the addition to the original home while the beautiful runner (drooling!) and pink tufted ottoman soften the space. If you want to know more about the project or like what you see feel free to reach out!
